From my personal experience, the best way to make traveling easier and to enjoy the vacation at its best is to take help of travel agents. They are highly experienced people and can make things simpler for you.

Definitely its safe to travel in Phuket with your family as well as friends. Few years back, I have been there with my friends and I really enjoyed the night clubs, beaches and more and I didn't notice any kind of threat over there.
