Mount Rinjani soars 3726 meters above the sea level; it is the highest mountain in Lombok with its summit is constantly shrouded in clouds. There is a huge, green, crescent-shaped, crater lake, called Segara Anakan (child of the sea), which is about 6 Km across at its widest point.
Mount Rinjani offers a spectacular view of stunning sunset from its summit. There is also a series of natural hot springs which is believed to have remarkable healing power for the skin disease, known as Kokok Putih (white crane), on the north-eastern side of the crater.
If you want to climb this mount be sure to get a good guide and clear weather. Do not try to climb on rainy season (November to April) since the track will be very slippery and dangerous and you view will be obstructed by constant mist and cloud. June to August is the best time to climb this mountain.
